PROJECT SOLIS #2025

'PROJECT SOLIS' is large- scale steel sculpture of a rocket, with juxtaposing industrial and playground aesthetics it's a testament to the imagined world I find through making, and the 'solace' found in connecting to materials.

The name 'SOLIS' references the sun and the use of light integrated within this piece, as well as the aesthetic references to space and rocket engineering.

I began work on this project in January 2025, aiming to encapsulate an almost childlike joy and imagination. It's a representation of family and a collective- both physically and ephemerally. SOLIS is built from scrap from my grandfather's workshop and spare car and bike parts from my brother, a reflection of my youth and the people who have shared their skills with me across my life.
